Policies and procedures for using Alma for Fulfillment activities.

Place a Hold Request in Alma for an Item Owned by Our Library

Library staff can place hold requests in Alma on items for specific patrons. 

1. Search for the title in Alma. 

2. Display the holdings to be sure there is a circulating copy of the item that can be placed on hold. (Non-circulating items are generally not placed on hold because they do not circulate.)

3. Click the row actions button to the right of the title to display an actions menu. Select "Request"

4. The Create Request screen appears. Click on "Patron Physical Item Request" from the drop-down list. 

5. Search for the patron for whom the hold is being placed. Then, select Seymour Library as the pickup location. 

6. Click the Submit button (top right). A print window opens displaying the pick from shelf slip. Finish processing the hold request in Alma (see this workflow in the menu on the left).

Place a Request for a Knox Patron in Alma for an Item Owned by Another I-Share Library

Library staff can place requests for Knox patrons on items owned by other I-Share libraries in Alma.

1. Search for the title in Alma in the Network Zone. 

2. Click the row actions button to the right of the title to display an actions menu. Select "Resource sharing Request."

3. The Resource Sharing Borrowing Request form opens.

  • Look up the Requester by last name (or Knox ID) and select the correct patron from the list. 
  • "Knox College" should be the Preferred Pickup location. Select "Seymour Library" as the Preferred Local Pickup Location.
  • Tick the Specific Edition Only box.
  • Select a Date Needed by.
  • Delivery Location should be set to "Deliver to Library"

4. Select the Add Rotas button, and select the checkbox next to "Fulfillment NZ Rota" then Select.

5. Click the SAVE button (top right). The Request has been placed.
