Fines

The Knox College Library does NOT charge any borrowers overdue fines.

I-Share libraries do NOT charge the patrons of other I-Share libraries overdue fines

Lost Item Replacement Fee

For items borrowed from the Knox Libraries by any Knox student, faculty, staff, or community borrower

The item becomes "lost" the replacement fee for the lost item is either the default $50.00 fee or the price recorded for the item in the item's record. Items become lost in one of two ways:

  1. the item is checked out and becomes over 35 days overdue;
  2. patron indicates to circulation staff that they have lost the item and circ staff apply the lost status to the item.

Notes:

  1. The Knox Library does not add a processing fee in addition to the lost item replacement fee.
  2. The Knox Library does not automatically block or suspend our patrons accounts. Any suspensions/blocks need to be applied individually by circulation manager.

For items borrowed from an I-Share Library

When an item borrowed from an I-Share library (UB or I-Share loan) becomes 21 days overdue a block is automatically placed on the patron's account at the library that owns the item. That means that the patron cannot check out any materials from this library (not all I-Share libraries, just this one library) until the block is resolved (the item is paid for or returned).

The replacement fee for the "lost" item is determined by the owning library. Items become lost in one of two ways:

  1. The item is checked out and becomes over 35 days overdue.
  2. Patron indicates to staff at the item's owning library that they have lost the item and circ staff apply the lost status to the item.

Note: I-Share libraries may or may not choose to add a processing fee in addition to the lost item replacement fee.
