Processing I-Share Lending Requests (Alma Pick Slip Requests)

Incoming I-Share requests appear in the Pick From Shelf List queues.

1. Log into Alma. Select the location "Seymour Library - Seymour Library":

2. Go to the Fulfillment > Resource Requests > Pick from Shelf
In the left column, Limit the Destination facet to "Library of Another Institution":

3. Verify that we can lend each item.

  • Click the ellipses, then click “View Title in Search”
  • Click the ellipses again, then click “Items”
  • Check the Receiving Date and Item Policy fields. In order to lend, the Receiving Date field must be greater than four months ago, and the Item Policy field must say “Book-regular loan”
  • If the item does not meet these requirements, we cannot lend it. Do not print the pick slip, just leave it in the queue.

4. Print the pick slip request. To help you retrieve items from the shelves, do one of these:

  • tick the box(es) to the left of the item(s) and click on the "Print Slip" hyperlink at the top
  • click on the row actions button to the right of an item and select "Print Slip"

5. Retrieve Items from the shelves, placing each pick slip in the corresponding book.

Note: If no item barcode is printed on the request report or slip, the request is likely a title-level request and any copy from the title can fill the request.

6. Verify the items are not fragile. Briefly inspect the item for any major spine damage or loose pages. Record any major damage you notice in the Internal Note 1 field of the item record and include your initials and the date. If the item is fragile, give to supervisor.

After picking up the requested items from the shelves, complete the following steps to process the requests in Alma.

1. Go to the Fulfillment menu > Resource Requests > Scan in Items. The Scan In Items window will open.

2. Scan/enter the barcode for the item. Use the barcode from the item itself, not the pick slip.

3. Alma will display the destination location:

4. Alma will also open a print window showing the Transit Slip to be printed. Print the Transit Slip.

5. Stamp the due date slip on the item with today's date using the green AFN stamp. Write "AFN" after the stamped date.

Note: Be sure to keep the books in the order that you scanned them in.

6. Place the pick slip behind the transit slip, fold the slips into quarters, tuck it around the front cover, and place a rubber band around the book and slip. Double check the title on the transit slip matches the title of the actual book.

7. Place on the shelf with the green "Place all items ready for outgoing delivery on this shelf" sign.

Next step: Preparing the outgoing ILDS delivery.
