Automated Fulfillment Network policies and procedures.

Processing Requests that Cannot be Filled (For Supervisor Only)

If a request cannot be filled because the item is missing or too fragile or damaged to be sent out or is for an item that we do not typically loan, the I-Share request should be canceled so that it moves to the next library in the I-Share rota.

  • If you cannot locate an item on the shelves, give the pick slip to your supervisor. 
  • If the item seems fragile or damaged, put the pick slip in the item and give it to your supervisor.

If the supervisor determines the request should be canceled follow the steps below.

1. Find the item in Alma in the Pick From Shelf List. 

2. Click the CANCEL REQUEST button to the right of the title.

3. Confirm Request Cancellation box will open. Do the following on this screen:

  • Choose a cancellation reason.
  • Optional: Add an additional cancellation note that would be recorded in Alma.
  • Uncheck the "Notify user" checkbox. 

4. Click the CONFIRM button. You will see a confirmation message that the request was successfully cancelled, and the request will disappear from the pick from shelf list. Behind the scenes, Alma will promote the request to the next I-Share library in the lender string.
